SCHNEIDER TURNY
Germany 1983

English Italiano
Schneider mod. Turny - Schneider Rundfunkwerke Electronics - Türkheim, Germany - 1983

Transistor portable receiver for Medium Wave and FM. The antenna for the OM is in ferrite while for the FM there is a whip antenna. The circuit uses 18 silicon transistors: 2SC839F, 2SC930D, 2SC930D, 2SC929D, 2SC930D, 2SC930D, 2SC930D, 2SC536F, 2SC536F, 2SD734F, 2SB696F, 2SC536F, 2SC536F, 2SC536 F, 2SC536F, 2SC536F, 2SC536F.

The Turny's tuning and volume controls are located on the front of the cabinet. The cabinet is made of plastic with a carrying handle, the extendable antenna and the headset socket are placed on the top. The loudspeaker has a diameter of 2 inch and an impedance of 16 ohms.

The radio has the characteristic of being equipped with rechargeable batteries by operating a crank generator which is located on the right side. With this arrangement, the radio can therefore be used in areas without electricity.

The batteries used are four rechargeable  AA type for a total of 4.8 V. The receiver also includes an internal power supply for 220 V mains electricity with a socket on the back, but this power supply is only used to recharge the batteries without having to operate the crank, it is not used to operate the radio. The dimensions are: 9.1 x 7.1 x 2.4 inch and the weight is 3 lb 4.9 oz.

Thanks to my radio amateur friend Dino I3DBD for having found this beautiful example of hand crank radio in a flea market.
