Zenith mod. T-404V chassis 4T40 Zenith Radio Corp. - Chicago, IL, U.S.A. - 1955. Ricevitore portatile supereterodina per la banda delle Onde Medie (550 - 1600 KHz). L'Antenna era interna a telaio (loop) ed era fissata al pannello posteriore. Il circuito impiegava 4 valvole della serie miniatura a 7 piedini: 1R5, 1U4, 1U5, 3V4 e un raddrizzatore al selenio. La Frequenza Intermedia era a 455 kHz e l'altoparlante magnetodinamico aveva il diametro di 3.5 inch = 8.9 cm e 3,3 Ohm di impedenza. Il suffisso "V" nella sigla indicava che il mobiletto era realizzato in plastica rossa. Altri suffissi indicavano colori diversi: F= verde, L= marrone, P=beige, W=panna. La radio era dotata di maniglia per il trasporto sul lato superiore del mobile, la manopola di sintonia era sul lato destro mentre quella del volume/interruttore era sul lato sinistro. L'alimentazione poteva essere fornita dalla rete elettrica a 110 Vca (15 W) o tramite una batteria tipo Zenith Z775 (7,5 e 75 Vcc). Come in tanti altri modelli di ricevitori Zenith la spina del cavo rete infilata nell'apposita presa fungeva da deviatore rete-batterie. Le dimensioni erano: 32x20x12,5 cm. La T-404V era stata prodotta durante i primi anni della guerra fredda, perciò sulla manopola della sintonia erano indicate le frequenze del sistema di allarme nucleare CONELRAD adottato a quel tempo dagli Stati Uniti. The Antenna was an internal frame (loop) and was fixed to the rear panel. The circuit used 4 miniature 7-pin series valves: 1R5, 1U4, 1U5, 3V4 and a selenium rectifier. The Intermediate Frequency was 455 kHz and the magnetodynamic speaker had a diameter of 3.5 inch and 3.3 Ohm of impedance. The suffix "V" in the acronym indicated that the cabinet was made of red plastic. Other suffixes indicated different colors: F = green, L = brown, P = beige, W = cream. The radio had a carrying handle on the top of the cabinet, the tuning knob was on the right side while the volume/switch knob was on the left side. Power could be supplied by the 110 Vac mains (15 W) or by a Zenith Z775 battery (7.5 and 75 Vdc). As in many other Zenith receiver models, the mains cable plug inserted into the appropriate socket acted as a mains-battery switch. The dimensions were: 12.59 x 7.87 x 4.9 in. The T-404V was produced during the early years of the Cold War, so the frequencies of the CONELRAD nuclear warning system in operation at that time in the United States were indicated on the tuning knob.
