Voxson Tanga FM (verde) - Voxson S.p.A. - Roma, Italia - 1970.

La Frequenza Intermedia (ZF/IF) è a10,7 MHz.

Voxson Tanga FM (green) - Voxson S.p.A. - Rome, Italy - 1970. (For more information on Voxson follow this link).

Mini removable car radio in FM range (88 - 105 MHz) that uses two BF424 germanium transistors and a µA3089PC integrated circuit, an AA119 diode, a 5.6 V zener diode and a BA102 varicap diode. The Intermediate Frequency (ZF/IF) is 10.7 MHz.

The car radio could be used in the car via a special adapter connected to the 12 V of the battery which also incorporated the Audio amplifier, and which supplied the Tanga with power and the antenna signal via a 4-pin contact block.

The small car adapter-amplifier used a TBA810AS integrated circuit, mounted on a heatsink, which could deliver a power of no less than 5 W at 13.8 V. The amplifier had to be connected to the car antenna, to the positive (+12V) of the battery, to the negative (car body) and to a 4 OHm speaker (10 W).

The radio could also be listened to at home using another adapter (A544) that had a mains power supply (220 Vac 50 Hz), a whip antenna and a built-in speaker.

The radio could also be listened to at home using another adapter (A544) which had a mains power supply (220 Vac 50 Hz), a whip antenna and a built-in speaker.

The small car radio also came with a leatherette case to store it in once it was removed from the car mount. The dimensions of the Tanga were really tiny: 2.8 x 1.6 x 1 inch, and the weight was only 2.4 oz.

Voxson sold the tiny removable car radio in three models that differed in reception range and color: Yellow for Long Waves, Red for Medium Waves and Green for the FM range. The three Tanga achieved immediate success and were sold throughout Europe. I remember that the Tanga car radio was a trendy accessory that was installed in the legendary FIAT 500 and the equally legendary Citroën 2CV.
