Zenith mod. Deluxe Royal 755LK - Chicago, Illinois, USA 1963. This portable radio was a beautiful object from the 1960s, embellished with a genuine leather cabinet. It was a development of the previous 755 model, with the addition of a battery saver circuit activated by a switch on the front panel. The circuit used is a superheterodyne type with 8 germanium PNP transistors: 121-150, 121-179, 121-185, 121-180, 121-181, 121-192, 121-193, 121-193. The variable capacitor has air insulation, the antenna is a long flat ferrite rod with the tuning coil wound over it. the power supply is supplied by six 1,5 v type C (or R14) batteries, which allow a good autonomy, but which are inserted in a complicated battery holder. The sound is strong and warm as in all Zenith radios. The dimensions are: 23 x 14 x 11 cm. Historical cold war note: As in other radio receivers with Medium Wave reception built and marketed in the U.S.A. starting from 1951 until 1963, it can be noted that also in this Zenith the acronym CD (Conelrad) is impressed on the dial scale in correspondence with the two nuclear warning frequencies of 640 and 1240 kHz. Zenith mod. Deluxe Royal 755LK - Chicago, Illinois, USA 1963. Questa radio portatile degli anni 60 era un bell'oggetto, impreziosito dal mobiletto in vera pelle. Esso fu uno sviluppo del precedente modello 755, con l'aggiunta di un circuito per il risparmio delle batterie attivato da un interruttore sul pannello frontale. Il circuito era del tipo supereterodina e utlizzava otto transistors PNP al germanio: 121-150, 121-179, 121-185, 121-180, 121-181, 121-192, 121-193, 121-193. Il condensatore variabile era con dielettrico ad aria, l'antenna era una bobina avvolta su una lunga e piatta bacchetta di ferrite. l'alimentazione era fornita da sei x batterie da 1,5V tipo C (R14), che permettevano una discreta autonomia, ma che erano inserite in un portapile piuttosto complicato. Il suono riprodotto dall'altoparlante da 12.7 cm era forte e caldo come nella altre radio della Zenith. Le dimensioni erano: 23 x 14 x 11 cm (LxAxP). Nota storica sulla guerra fredda: Come in altri ricevitori radio con ricezione delle Onde Medie costruiti e commercializzati negli U.S.A. a partire dal 1951 fino al 1963, si può notare che anche sulla scala parlante di questa Zenith è impressa la sigla CD (Conelrad) in corrispondenza delle due frequenze di allarme nucleare di 640 e 1240 kHz.
